Owlerton Stadium is a purpose-built speedway track, built in 1929 which also hosts greyhound racing. The track is in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, and has a reputation for great hospitality on race and event nights.
In tandem with the architect and the owner of Owlerton Stadium, we were called in to create five bespoke bars, and a showcase reception counter. We also had to develop four hospitality mini bars for the executive boxes too.
We were a specified supplier to the Harris CM, the main contractor from the outset and we were expected to deliver a good, high spec job. And working alongside the chosen architect, we developed a furniture spec that combined both the aesthetic and practical requirements suitable for a hospitality setting.
With various stakeholders involved in this project, good, clear communication lines were essential to make it work.
Once concept approvals or design changes had come from our external stakeholders, we had to ensure that our internal design team, design engineers, and joiners got the message too. With a project like this, we weren’t willing to let standards or results slip by failing to pass on an important piece of information.
And it was vital that on-site communication was as clear too. Liaising with contractors during the renovation process was paramount to ensure that they understood our bar design, to make sure it lined up with the predetermined services point.
As we were responsible for the installation onsite of our furniture, communications and regular site surveys were critical.
Delivered on-time and in-full, the final result was a show-stopper. Steel fret cut feature panels with integrated illuminated signage looked amazing. A stunning statement centre-piece feature was created out of laser-cut, powder-coated steel.
Our design and engineering team created an intricate pattern that was lasered and seamlessly hung from the reception desk rear wall. And the finishing touches were completed with solid copper bar tops, and stunning fret cut lettering in reception.
Another fantastic WSG project, that made us proud and made our client happy.
