Oktra, Landmark – London

How we Made it together

Landmark’s new signature building is iconic, and with a lighthouse on the top of it makes quite the statement as you look at it from Kings Cross, London.

So, when it comes to creating the concept of its interior space, nothing short of exceptional would do.

Oktra were overseeing the creation of the flexible working space on behalf of Landmark, and is was them who approached WSG with a brief. They needed the expertise of a leading interior specialist to design, build and install a number of elements for a stunning ground floor space.

And the requirement was pretty clear: They needed Bleacher Seating, Tea Point Islands, Boardroom Banquette & Credenza, Pegboard Shelving and a Reception Counter.  It needed to look cool, function nicely, and fit in perfectly to the Landmark space.

But…there was a but. We had an incredibly short lead time to hit, alongside a strict budget. Could we do it?

Thankfully, they’d contacted the right people.  At WSG, we’ve had plenty of experience pulling out all the stops and getting a great job done when time seems to be against everyone. And this time round it was no different.

How we Made it Simple

With a timescale to hit and a quality result to deliver to budget, our Pre-Contract Design team were worked this into their diary as a top priority. Getting it right upfront was a must for this one, and in tandem with the client our Project Management team, we presented a fantastic solution which fully lined up with the brief.

We drafted in our incredible design team to work the visuals up, and they turned the drawings round swiftly without compromising on attention to detail and creativity. And that led us nicely in to a smooth and flawless sign-off process.

What could have been a tricky task was handled with all the ease and efficiency our team brings to a project.

How we Made it Sing

WSG’s manufacturing team and in-house joinery specialists worked around the clock to create something that wasn’t just practical and breath-taking, it met the standards of quality and finish that we insist goes in to all our jobs.

When it got to site and we installed it, the difference our work made was plain to see.

Using natural palettes and earthy tones, the elements we designed and manufactured for Landmark fit in with the warm and relaxed environment that they wanted to achieve.

Bleacher seating with a laminate oak finish looked the part, and the oak veneer pegboard shelving adorned the space nicely. Especially when it was dressed with plants, greenery and strategic lighting.

The reception desk looked very smart, with narrow grey tiles around the base of it. It was manufactured with a solid surface top and dias, and in contrast to anything else a curved, brushed steel effect upper.

Finally, the tea points were made with narrow teal tiling, and a solid surface top.  Softening the look, we made powder-coated hanging gantries which were dressed with more greenery and flowers. The storage units were finished in a contrasting earthy colour and gave people utilising the office plenty of space make and enjoy their refreshments.

A really pleasing result, where style and function came together perfectly.  Our client seemed pleased…and this might not be the last you hear from us about our work at Landmark.
